- **The X-ray spectral and variability properties of typical radio-loud quasar**
- The authors investigate the X-ray spectral and temporal variability of an unbiased sample of 316 radio-loud quasars (RLQs) from Chandra and XMM archives. They compare them with radio-quiet quasars (RQQs) matched in 2500 A luminosity and z. They found:
    1. Photon index Gamma for RLQ is 1.84, a little smaller than 1.9 for RQQ. No siginificant correlation between photon index and radio-loudness, redshift or Eddington ratio.
    2. The stacked RLQ spectrum show strong iron line emission and a possible Compton hump.
    3. The X-ray variability amplitude for RLQs on months-to-years timescale is ~ 40% compared to 60% of RQQs.
    4. X-ray emission of typical RLQ is dominated by the disk/corona.
