- Intrinsic weakness or small-scale absorption by Compton-thick material may explain its X-ray weakness.

- The authors measure the vertical density profile of earth atmosphere, based on the Earth occultations of the Crab Nebula observed with the X-ray Imaging Spectrometer onboard Suzaku and the Hard X-ray Imager onboard Hitomi. They find there exist a density deficit around 70 - 110 km with respect to the model prediction. Either the model needs modification or the upper atmosphere undergos long-term radiative cooling.
